Royal Family News: Private Issues are for Another Day

Royal Family news and updates reveal that, according to 9Honey, a royal expert is suggesting that the King’s coronation would be the ideal time for the Duke and Duchess of Sussex to show “respect” to the monarchy. Author of Queen of Our Times: The Life of Elizabeth II, Robert Hardman told Page Six, about the coronation, “it’s [King Charles] show, we are here because that’s the sort of respect for a beautiful thing to do.”

“Private family issues aside… that’s for another day,” he said. Hardman is of the opinion that the Duke and Duchess of Sussex will show up to the coronation, considering it’s going to be a “family event as well as a state event and you would expect all the family to be at a family event.” It’s also worth noting that the royal couple has been officially invited to the historic event.

Meghan Markle and Prince Harry will Likely Remain Low-Key

Hardman opines that Harry and Meghan’s bearing will be similar to their demeanor when they attended the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee last year. He remarked that the pair were “quite low-key” at those events.

“They didn’t seek to upstage the main event, they didn’t give any interviews, they didn’t have a Netflix crew following them up the aisle [at St. Paul’s Cathedral],” said the expert. “think, if they’re sensible, that’s how they’ll play it this time.”

Prince Harry and William Reconciliation Unlikely

Hardman is perhaps less enthusiastic about any sort of reconciliation between Prince Harry and his brother Prince William. In his memoir, Spare, Harry revealed a laundry list of grievances against his older sibling.

At one point the estranged royal claimed that the Prince of Wales pushed him down during an argument. He also made reference to the lack of welcome his wife received from William. Harry has been outspoken about wanting an apology but agrees one won’t likely be coming. Hardman describes any possible apology requiring “a give on either side.”

“I mean, there always is in any of these things and every family, you know, both sides have to sort of swallow a bit of pride,” says Harman. “I’m not sure we’re at that stage yet. But, you know, if Harry just keeps saying, I’m not going to do anything until I receive an apology, well, I think that could be a long way.”
