Royal Family News: Do Family Feuds Have a Pause Feature?
Royal Family news reveals that, according to Cosmopolitan, Royal Family feuds may have a “pause feature.” In fact, such a feature could come in handy when historic moments for The Firm happen to coincide with Harry’s bombshell memoir detailing a reportedly toxic and unsupportive royal family environment.
Though, as Cosmo puts it, that could be an oversimplification, however, according to royal expert Jonathan Sacerdoti, the idea of a temporary truce between the Duke and Duchess of Sussex and the rest of The Firm ahead of Charles’ coronation in May, could very well be a possibility, although a very slip one.
Though Possible, Pause Would Likely be Temporary
“I suspect that there are some efforts going on to try and make some form of reconciliation.… I think because they don’t want [family tensions] to upstage what’s going on on that very important day,” Sarcerdoti told Us Weekly.
“Whether or not that’s possible is one thing, and whether or not it’s lasting is another thing. Even if they do manage to make some form of peace, [it] might be temporary. I think it’s going to be extremely difficult for them as a family—and more broadly, for the nation and for the Institution—to forgive what’s happened.”
Royal Subjects in ‘Spare’ Are Likely Sore
To be precise, the royal expert thinks the duke and duchess are hoping that the family will apologize to them for all of the family baggage they’ve gone public with since they stepped down as working royals in 2020. As Kayleigh Roberts of Cosmo puts it, it’s going to be a “sticking point” when it comes to any long-term resolution.
“I think Harry and Meghan have said they’re expecting an apology, but I think there aren’t many people who agree that it’s due that way round,” Sacerdoti adds. “Some of the individuals within [Spare]—the king, the queen, and the Prince of Wales—all come out of that book so badly. They’re so broadly criticized by Harry, so nastily criticized in sections, that I think they could be feeling very sore about this.”
Royal Family May Remain Silent on Reconciliation
However, as Sacerdoti puts it, they may just want to bite their tongue to avoid provoking “any more of this sort of thing” which is damaging to them, not just personally and emotionally “but as a nation, because this is an attack effectively on part of the Constitution of Great Britain,” he explained.
