Royal Family News: The Firm Doesn’t Want to Add to Drama
Royal Family news reveals, according to Marie Claire, royal expert Jonathan Sacerdoti says he doesn’t think the family will go as far as to remove Harry and Meghan’s duke and duchess titles despite a member of British Parliament’s attempts to do just that.
“The sense I get is that this is not something they want to do,” Sacerdoti tells Us Weekly of the royal family. “I think they’re trying to calm things, not trying to throw more grenades—[they’re] not trying to provoke any more than they’re being provoked.”
Royal Family News: Dirty Royal Laundry
After the duke and duchess stepped down as working members of the Royal Family in 2020 the late Q8ueen allowed the couple to hold on to their Sussex titles, though she stripped them of their “royal Highness” designation in 2021, Deadline reported at the time.
Yet, in the wake of ‘Spare’ and the dirty royal laundry it aired; many have called for King Charles III to strike back at the Sussexes. But Sarcodoti claims that will just make things worse all around.
Royal Family News: Harry and Meghan Could Dress Title Removal as Aggression
“Trying to remove their titles by the King would be seen as perhaps an aggressive move, or at least Harry and Meghan could dress it up that way,” Sacerdoti says. He adds that such an action would only cause more drama.
“I think perhaps they’re trying to spare us all of that misery as well. It’s just not necessarily on their agenda. They want to get on with doing the job of the royal family and try and avoid that.” Yet, it seems, not everyone agrees with the royal expert.
Royal Family News: Others Push for Stripping the Royals of Titles
Robert William Henry Seely, a member of British Parliament is attempting to pass a law that would see the Sussexes’ status downgraded, Sarcerdoti claims. “He’s pressing ahead with his attempt to pass legislation that would allow Harry and Meghan to be downgraded as royals,” he says.
“He’s planning what’s called a Private Members Bill, which would allow a vote on taking away their titles. It’s aimed at dealing with what he called ‘bad royals’ to give support to the monarchy.
