ITV took over the show following a controversial documentary by BBC which caused a row between the corporation and the royals.

Kate Middleton later took the stage to highlight the importance of being together after a pandemic forced families to be apart.

The COVID-19 pandemic was especially daunting because people couldn’t visit their family members in the hospital or even travel back to see their loved ones. For others, it means not being there when a loved one passes away. Needless to say, the pandemic has been difficult in various ways to many different people, but the Duchess used the event to celebrate the comfort in finally being together.

She said: “We have lost loved ones, seen our frontline workers placed under immeasurable pressure, and we have experienced heart-wrenching isolation from those we hold most dear.

“Alongside this, we have seen how communities have come together to support those most in need.

“And through our separation from others, we have been reminded just how powerful human connection is to us all.

“Just how much we need one another. And how loving and feeling a sense of belonging to one another can provide comfort in tough times.

She concluded the message by reminding people of the importance of being together.
