Royal Family News: King Charles is Eager for Prince George to Take Part
Royal family news reveals that, according to Daily Record, King Charles wants his oldest grandson, and third in line to the throne, to take part in his coronation. However, the Prince and Princess of Wales reportedly have a requirement.
Millions will be watching throughout the UK as the official Coronation of King Charles and Queen Camilla goes down in May of this year. The historic day will see many members of the Royal Family play important roles in the special day including the hear apparent, Prince William.
Prince William and Kate Middleton Have a Requirement
Of course, the Prince of Wales will not be the only future King to attend the event set to take place on May 6. His son Prince George, 9, who he shares with the Princess of Wales, will also likely attend the historic event to witness the crowning of his grandfather.
The Mirror reports that the King is amped for his eldest grandson and future King to take part in the process. But it has been implied that the young royal’s parents, Will and Kate, will have a strict condition for his role in the proceedings.
Prince George’s Participation Not the Norm
The Sunday Times reports that Prince William and his wife, Kate Middleton are set to meet with the King and his wife, Queen Consort Camilla soon to discuss young George’s role. And though the couple is assuredly psyched to have their son feature in the event, the Prince and Princess of Wales reportedly want to role not to be one that will subject their son to “overwhelming scrutiny.
If George does play a role in the historic event, it would be a change from similar events of the past. The last two such ceremonies’ young heirs (Charles and Elizabeth II) didn’t feature but in fact, watched from the audience. Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis will reportedly be taking seats in the audience for the event at Westminster Abbey.
What To Expect from Prince William’s Children
Historian Dr. Tessa Dunlop said “George alongside siblings Charlotte and Louis will be a big visual pull at the coronation – just as Prince Charles was at his mother’s. Expect Charlotte in a dainty coronet [small crown] – perhaps even the one the late Queen wore to her father’s coronation aged 10 – and the two brothers in frock coats and breeches.
“Kate loves dressing up her children, so objections are unlikely. And the money shot everyone will want is a snap of the three siblings in their finery alongside the King and the Queen on Buckingham Palace balcony after the service.”.
According to royal historian Hugo Vickers, “Bringing George in also sends all the right symbolism for the future and gives him something he will always remember. It is certainly different — this coronation is getting more interesting by the minute.”
