Lionel Richie Said King Charles Is a ‘Secret Comedian’ And Has An ‘Amazing Sense of Humor’
The “Say You, Say Me” singer recently revealed that the newly crowned King, King Charles III, has a hidden talent for comedy. This means we have a King with a great “Sense of humor,” and this calls for a celebration.
So, in a recent appearance at “Extra,” the 73-year-old musician told the outlet on Monday that he discovered King Charles’ comedic skills the day the king made his first-ever appearance on “American Idol” with his wife Queen Camilla.
Richie said, “I’ve known the King quite a long time. He does have this amazing sense of humor that no one knows about. He’s a secret comedian. For him to actually take the step and go out of the comfort zone — which was actually his comfort zone — he was hamming it up.”
Lionel Richie — Richie’s Highlights From The King’s Coronation
Richie, his “American Idol” co-judge Katy Perry, and some other elite singers were given the honor of performing at King Charles’ Coronation early this month, and just like every other singer did, Richie delivered.
Richie understood the assignment and went on to ace it by performing his hit songs “Easy,” and his never aging party song, “All Night Long.” When asked by “Extra” the events that were his highlights at the coronation, the “Stuck On You” singer shared a few.
Richie said, “The highlight for me was that I actually walked up to the King the day after the coronation and said, ‘Would you like to be on American Idol and he said, ‘Yeah.'”
He went on to say, And the second thing that was the highlight was he said, ‘Alright if I bring the Queen?’ ‘Uh, yeah,'” before adding, “They are an amazing couple. On top of that, they are putting so much good out in the world with the Prince’s Trust.”
