Royal family news and updates tease that Meghan Markle had a very brief response when she was asked about her first meeting with Kate Middleton. The Duchess of Sussex only had one word to say about it.
The daunting experience of meeting your partner’s family is common to everyone, including Meghan. When she and Prince Harry got together, she had no choice but to meet the British royal family. When she and Prince Harry hosted a private dinner one year into their relationship, the former had the chance to meet Kate Middleton for the first time.
In an interview with BBC’s Mishal Hussein, Meghan recalled her first meeting with Kate. The Duchess of Sussex had a one-word response and it was “wonderful.” Prince Harry also described Kate as “an incredible woman” back when she and Meghan first met.
During that time, Meghan had good things to say about the royal family. She recalled how they were all very welcoming and the time she met the Queen for the first time.
“I think, you know, to be able to meet her through his lens, not just with his honour and respect for her as the monarch, but the love that he has for her as his grandmother, all of those layers have been so important for me so that when I met her I had such a deep understanding and of course incredible respect for being able to have that time with her,” she said.
In the same interview, Prince Harry also shared how exciting it was to finally introduce Meghan to his family, especially since no one knew that they were together.
Things were different back then. Now, there’s a strain in their relationship after the Duke and Duchess of Sussex left the royal family and moved to the US.

Princess Lilibet Diana, the daughter of Meghan Markle and Prince William, was christened by the bishop in the Episcopal Diocese of Los Angeles, the Rev John Taylor on Friday, March 3. The intimate event was held at their home in Montecito, California.
Insiders shared that the couple extended an invitation to the royal family, specifically King Charles, Queen Camilla, Prince William, and Kate Middleton. However, none of them were able to attend the ceremony.
Around 20-30 guests attended the intimate gathering, including Doria Ragland, Meghan’s mother, and Tyler Perry.
