Piers Morgan Slams “Princess Pinocchio” Meghan Markle for Using Royal Title to Lobby American Senators
Meghan Markle has been wading deeper into U.S. politics during recent times, and she’s doing it with the help of her British Royal title. Needless to say, it has ruffled a few feathers. Amongst her most fiercest critics is former GMB host Piers Morgan, who deemed it “outrageous” that she’s using her royal title to slip into U.S. politics.
Piers Morgan Renews His Call for the British Royal Institution to Strip Meghan of Her Titles
This is not the first time that the 56-year-old television personality has used his platform to bash the 40-year-old former “Suits” actress.
Meghan Markle started her campaign to vote into law paid parental leave, which will go in line with the practices already in place at her and husband Prince Harry’s charity foundation Archewell.
After penning a candid open letter calling for American President Joe Biden to include paid family leave in his agenda, she’s decided to personally call senators in order to convince them to vote in the plan.
“I’m in my car. I’m driving. It says caller ID blocked,” Sen. Shelley Moore Capito, R-W.Va., told Politico. “Honestly … I thought it was Sen. Manchin. His calls come in blocked. And she goes, ‘Sen. Capito?’ I said, ‘Yes.’ She said, ‘This is Meghan, the Duchess of Sussex.'”
“I couldn’t figure out how she got my number,” the 67-year-old added.
Sen. Susan Collins, R-Maine, also confirmed Capito’s comment.
“I was happy to talk with her,” said the 68-year-old. “But I’m more interested in what the people of Maine are telling me about it. Much to my surprise, she called me on my private line, and she introduced herself as the Duchess of Sussex, which is kind of ironic.”
Per the outlet, it was Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand, D.N.Y, who gave the phone numbers to Meghan Markle. The 54-year-old is currently trying to get her party to include paid leave in its social spending bill.
“I talked to each of the women senators and let them know that she’s going to reach out because she only completed two of the calls,” said Gillibrand. “She’s going to call some others, so I let them know in advance.”
The move to “cold call” politicians and lobby them into supporting her idea wasn’t exactly what ticked Piers Morgan off – after all, she’s an American citizen and she has a right to seek for better things for her country, it’s the fact that she keeps using her royal title in all her political and non-political agendas.
“Just outrageous for Princess Pinocchio to use her royal title for political lobbying like this,” Morgan wrote on Twitter. “The Queen must stop the Sussexes causing such endless damage to the Monarchy’s reputation.”
He ended the post by calling for their titles to be taken away.
