Prince William and Kate Middleton Stand With Ukraine: Statement
The royal news and updates report that the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, Prince William and Catherine, expressed their support to Ukraine amid the ongoing Russian invasion.
Vladimir Putin, the President of Russia, has launched full-scale military operations against Ukraine, sending missile strikes on the capital of Kyiv.
Duke and Duchess of Cambridge Support Ukraine’s People
In a tweet on Saturday via @KensingtonRoyal account, Prince William and Kate Middleton shared, “In October 2020 we had the privilege to meet President Zelensky and the First Lady to learn of their hope and optimism for Ukraine’s future. Today we stand with the President and all of Ukraine’s people as they bravely fight for that future.”
The royal couple signed off the post with their initials, “W & C.”
The post comes after Ukraine President Volodymyr Zelensky shared on social media a video of himself on the streets of Kyiv to tell his people, “I’m here.” It came after a night of attacks from Russia on various parts of the city.
Prince Harry and Meghan Markle Also Expressed Support for Ukraine
Two days prior to William and Kate’s statement, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle also expressed their support for Ukraine via the Archewell Foundation website.
The statement reads, “Prince Harry and Meghan, The Duke and Duchess of Sussex and all of us at Archewell stand with the people of Ukraine against this breach of international and humanitarian law and encourage the global community and its leaders to do the same.”
Meanwhile, Queen Elizabeth has postponed the scheduled diplomatic reception that was supposed to take place at Windsor Castle on March 2. It follows the advice of the UK’s Foreign Secretary amid the ongoing conflict between Ukraine and Russia.
The reception was supposed to welcome more than 500 members of the diplomatic corps.
“The Queen has accepted the Foreign Secretary’s advice that the Diplomatic Reception at Windsor on Wednesday 2nd March should be postponed,” Buckingham Palace said in a statement.
Russia Claims British Royals Want the War
In another news, a segment on Russian TV claims that the British Royals, particularly Queen Elizabeth, Prince Charles, and Prince Andrew, want the war between Russia and Ukraine as a distraction.
Based on Insider’s translation, the Russian report says that the royal family “really wants to distract attention, even if it’s war.” The report cited the accusation that “Prince Charles, has been giving away high honors, titles, and even citizenships to a foreign businessman with an easy-to-remember name, Mahfouz Marei Mubarak bin Mahfouz,” while Prince Andrew “settle a US court case with the victim of his rape” using the Queen’s money worth $16 million.
