Prince William Posts Rare Tweet As He Grieves Death of Friend
Royal news and updates tease Prince William posted a rare personal tweet following the death of a friend. The Prince of Wales is grieving the passing of Mark Jenkins and his son, who died in a plane crash in Kenya last week.
As per the obituary shared by the Frankfurt Zoological Society, Mark and Peter were doing an aerial patrol for the David Sheldrick Wildlife Trust when their plane crashed.
“Yesterday, I lost a friend, who dedicated his life to protecting wildlife in some of East Africa’s most renowned national parks. Mark Jenkins, and his son Peter, were tragically killed when flying over Tsavo National Park while conducting an aerial patrol,” Prince William wrote on his personal Twitter account.
His two-part post also shared that his thoughts were with the wife, family, and colleagues of his late friend, whom they all loved and admired. He signed off the post with the capital letter “W.”
The Prince and Princess of Wales have been known to add their initials at end of their social media posts.
PEOPLE confirmed that Prince William met Jenkins during his gap year following his graduation from Eton College back in 2000. The pair stayed in touch ever since Jenkins followed Prince William’s work alongside the African wildlife conservation charity Tusk, which started in 2005. Mark also worked with Kenya Wildlife Service and Frankfurt Zoological Society in the past.
“Passionate, principled, and strong-willed, Mark was never afraid to speak his mind and stand for what he believed in. He was a commanding presence and made an indelible impression wherever he went,” as per the obituary.
Rare Footage of Prince William and Princess Kate Embracing Fellow Royals
A recent video showed the Prince and Princess of Wales embracing their fellow royals came up. The clip was taken from last year’s Christmas Carol Concert, which was Princess Kate’s first.
In the video, the royal couple can be seen embracing Carole and Michael Middleton, Mike and Zara Tindall, and Princess Eugenie as they arrived at Westminster Abbey. They also exchanged hugs with Princess Beatrice and her husband, Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi.
This year will be Princess Kate’s second Christmas Carol Concert at the Abbey and the royal family is expected to support her during this festive event.
Meanwhile, the palace continues to remain mum following the release of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s documentary on Netflix.
