The British Royal Family Welcomes a New Baby
Buckingham Palace announced the birth of Princess Beatrice’s first child with her husband Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi.
The Queen’s granddaughter, 33, gave birth at 11:42 p.m. on Saturday at an NHS hospital, the Chelsea and Westminster Hospital, in London. It is believed that the princess gave birth on a private wing, the Kensington Wing.
The baby is reportedly yet to meet her elder brother, Wolfie, who Beatrice’s husband Mapelli Mozzi shares with ex Dara Huang.
The baby, whose name is yet to be revealed, is the second grandchild for Prince Andrew and his ex-wife Sarah Ferguson and the Queen’s 12th great-grandchild. Beatrice’s newborn daughter displaces Harry and Meghan’s child Lilibet, who arrived this summer, as the Queen’s youngest great-grandchild.
While Beatrice’s baby girl is 11th in line to the throne, and although her mother is a princess, she will not have any royal title. Only grandchildren of the monarch through the male line are automatically entitled to the styling of HRH.
This means that she will be plain Miss Mapelli Mozzi. The Queen can, however, bestow a title on her latest great-grandchild if desired, but it is unlikely to be asked for.
“So delighted to share the news of the safe arrival of our daughter on Saturday, 18th September, 2021, at 23.42,” the message read on the princess’s official Twitter account. She went on to show her appreciation for the midwife team and for “everyone at the hospital for their wonderful care.”
Beatrice and Edo, who tied the knot in 2020 and live in St. James’ Palace, also expressed their wishes to introduce their daughter to her big brother Christopher “Wolfie” Woolf, whom Edo shares with ex.
