Queen Elizabeth Surprises Platinum Jubilee Fans

Royal family fans have anticipated the Platinum Jubilee celebrations for months. And the events honoring Queen Elizabeth’s 70-year reign on the throne fulfilled those expectations. But after four days of excitement, followers anticipated that the Queen’s appearances ended. Wrong.

On Sunday afternoon, delighted fans discovered the monarch made one last show. And she beamed throughout her appearance on the balcony of Buckingham Palace. Waving to the crowd, Queen Elizabeth looked just as happy as her fans, noted Page Six.

Queen Elizabeth glowed in a green jacket, pearls and white gloves. And of course the monarch topped off her ensemble with one of her always-present hats. In addition to the Queen, Prince Charles and his wife Camilla Parker Bowles stood on the balcony. Charles’ son Prince William and his wife Kate Middleton joined the group. And the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge’s spotlight-stealing children Prince George, 8; Princess Charlotte, 7, and Prince Louis, 4, also appeared.

Royal Fans Get Clue To Queen’s Sunday Surprise

Sharp-eyed observers got their first clue that Queen Elizabeth would appear when Buckingham Palace raised the Royal Standard above the building. That gesture takes place only when the monarch has walked into the Palace. And the sight of Queen Elizabeth waving from the balcony seemed the perfect way to wrap up the four days of festivities. Every event focused on honoring the monarch as Britain’s longest-reigning queen.

One special event involved more than 5,000 individuals participating in the Platinum Jubilee Pageant. For the first time in two decades, a gilded historic carriage wove its way throughout London. The vehicle showed an image of the monarch greeting the crowds. In addition, technical wizards created a digital image of Queen Elizabeth when she was young. That image got projected onto the Gold State Coach’s windows. The coach took the monarch to her 1953 coronation.

Queen Elizabeth did not participate physically in the pageant. However, the hologram forms and images represented the 96-year-old monarch throughout the event. The Platinum Jubilee began on Thursday when Queen Elizabeth celebrated her birthday. Royal family members stood with her on the palace balcony to view the Trooping the Colour parade.
