Queen Elizabeth Uses Cane in Public For the First Time Since 2003
The Royals spoilers and updates tease that Queen Elizabeth was seen using a cane in public for the first time since 2003. The Queen, together with her daughter Princess Anne, attended a Service of Thanksgiving at Westminster Abbey. The event marked the Centenary of the Royal British Legion.
The last time the Queen was seen using a walking stick in public was after she had knee surgery. Prior to this recent public appearance, the Queen didn’t use a cane when she officially launched the Queen’s Baton Relay outside the Buckingham Palace last week. The event took place ahead of the XXII Commonwealth Games, which is scheduled to start next summer in Birmingham.
The Queen Wears Blue Ensemble
During last Tuesday’s outing, the Queen wore a matching blue jacket and hat while Princess Anne donned a purple ensemble. The event was attended by serving military personnel, volunteers, and veterans. Princess Anne gave a reading and the anthem that was originally made for the 75th anniversary of VE Day was performed at the event for the first time.
The Legacy of the Royal British Legion
The service at Westminster Abbey showcased the enduring legacy of the Royal British Legion, wherein the Queen serves as the Head of the Armed Forces. It remains the biggest Armed Forces Charity in the UK, since its inception following the First World War.
Queen Elizabeth Set to Attend UN Climate Change Conference in November
The Queen has made a few public appearances this year. She spent summer and early fall at the Balmoral Castle in Scotland. She’s already resumed her public royal duties in England in October but she’s scheduled to return to Scotland for the U.N. Climate Change Conference COP26 this coming November. She’ll be joined by Prince Charles, Camilla, Duchess of Cornwall, Prince William, and Kate Middleton in the upcoming event.
Fans Air Concerns Over The Queen’s Health
Fans were happy to see the Queen out and about in public once again. However, many of them were concerned after they saw her use a cane.
“I know she’s 95, but it’s a little sad to see #QueenElizabeth using a cane to walk,” one fan wrote on Twitter.
Another one chimed in and said the Queen looks thinner, perhaps because of the stress and death surrounding the Royal family.
