Queen Elizabeth’s “Dearest Wishes” Include Prince Harry Reconciling With Royal Family
The Royals news and updates tease that one of the “dearest wishes” of the late Queen Elizabeth was for Prince Harry to reconcile with the royal family. Historian Robert Hardman said that it’s what the late monarch would have hoped for.
Fans may recall that Prince Harry and his wife, Meghan Markle, stepped back from their royal duties in early 2020. Since then, they’ve resided in California and remained distant from the other royal family members.
Queen Elizabeth’s Relationship With Prince Harry
Hardman, who’s the author of Queen of Our Times: The Life of Elizabeth II, said that the late monarch adored Harry and the latter felt the same way for his grandmother, too.
“I think she was one of the conduits between Windsor and California, and it would have been one of her dearest wishes that they patch things up,” Hardman said.
The Duke and Duchess of Sussex went on a series of charity visits to Europe when Queen Elizabeth died. The royal couple stayed in the U.K. to attend the series of funerary events for the late monarch. They remained in the country for two weeks and returned to California after Queen Elizabeth’s funeral.
Hope For Reconciliation
A source close to King Charles said that many people are hoping that the royal family would unite, mend broken bridges, and heal wounds.
“You’d think that all members of the family would unite and support the King, especially,” the insider said.
“She knew that conflicts were a part of life, and she didn’t hold grudges. Most of all, she wanted to see her family happy,” the source continued.
Samantha Cohen, Queen Elizabeth’s former assistant private secretary said that the royal family “looked tired” and now the “real mourning” begins as the truth sets in that they have to live life without the Queen.
Another insider said that Prince William, Kate Middleton, Prince Harry, and Meghan Markle found it hard and awkward when they had to greet onlookers together and take their tributes for the late monarch. The walkabout at Windsor Castle took place two days after the death of the late monarch.
The source said, “They were in a stoic spirit of just getting through it for the Queen.”
Whether or not Prince Harry and Meghan will reconcile with the royal family still remains to be seen.
