Royal Family News – Could Prince Charles Be Unfit to Ascend the Throne?
Could Prince Charles have proven himself, at least to some, unfit to be king?
According to screenwriter and cultural commentator for Newsweek, Gareth Mclean, who wrote an opinion piece on the subject, the Prince of Wales should never be king, but he’s not the first. Continue reading and we’ll discuss the details.
Royal Family News – Suitcases of Qatari Cash
People have opined on the subject for months, if not years, and with the Queen reaching 96 years of age – the issue has become ever more pressing. But, recently, with the prince being caught receiving cash via a suitcase from a Qatari dignitary, many more are coming forward to say he’s just not fit to be a king.
Of course, the Prince of Wales didn’t take the cash and stash it in an offshore account or immediately go out and buy himself an expensive sports car like many might. He relinquished it to his courtiers for his charity foundation.
Royal Family News – Cash Goes to Charity
To sum it up, Prince Charles accepted cash on three separate occasions, yes, in suitcases, totaling $3.2 million from former Qatari prime minister Sheikh Hamad bin Jassim bin Jaber Al Thani, between 2011 and 2015, according to The Sunday Times. A spokesperson for the prince said the cash was passed to Charles’ charities who “assured us that all the correct processes were followed.”
Of course, this is just the latest in a long line of inconsistencies about Charles’ relationship with his rich visitors and their donations to his charity foundation. Most recently an aide to Charles, Michael Fawcett, resigned following disclosures that he had lobbied for a Saudi billionaire’s honor to be upgraded to a knighthood acknowledging his generosity to one of Charles’ charities.
Royal Family News – Charles’ Good Intentions May Not Be Enough
This was also not the first time Fawcett had resigned and, reportedly, not even the second. There is no one doubting the prince’s sincerity or good intentions, from conserving the environment to investing in the future through his Prince’s Trust.
And again, while there is no indication that anything the Prince of Wales did was illegal, there are still those who believe what he did proves he’s just not fit for the royal role. Be sure and stay up to date on all Royal family News and return here often for more news and updates.
