Royal Family News: Despite Rift, King Charles Keeps Photo of Prince Harry’s Nuptials in Office
Royal Family news reveals that despite the rift between Prince Harry, Meghan Markle, and the rest of the Royal Family, King Charles III still keeps a picture of the couple’s wedding day in his office. Read on and we’ll fill you in on the details.
Royal Family News: King Charles Maintains Sussex’s Presence at Palace
Royal Family news reveals that though the Duke and Duchess of Sussex have stepped down as working royals and relocated to California, Harry’s dad still keeps a picture of the couple’s wedding day near him in his office. Harper’s Bazaar reports that King Charles is maintaining the estranged couple’s presence at Buckingham Palace.
This week the new monarch entertained an audience at Buckingham Palace with the newly appointed Prime Minister Liz Truss. In a clip released and shared via Twitter by ITV’s Lizzie Robinson, royal fans can see several images of the family in various places in the meeting room. Among the images is one of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle on their wedding day.
A Happier Time for Prince Harry and Meghan Markle
In the image, taken at the royal couple’s 2018 nuptials, they are surrounded by their family at Windsor Castle after exchanging vows at St. George’s Chapel (via Page Six). The photograph that points to a happier time for the Sussex’s, was captured by British photographer Alexi Lubomirski.
The newly minted monarch also stood near a snap of his late mother Queen Elizabeth II standing beside three generations of her heirs: Then-prince Charles, Prince William, and William’s eldest son Prince George.
The Royal Exit
Unfortunately, a great deal has changed since the Duke and Duchess of Sussex got hitched. Harry and Meghan announced in January 2020, that they were stepping down as working royals. They followed through on the announcement two months later in March as they moved across the pond to Markle’s home state of California.
And as royal watchers are well-aware, tensions have been on the increase ever since the shocking exit. Once close brothers Prince William and Prince Harry have been at odds since that day.
The Royal Snub
Prince Harry and Meghan Markle returned to the UK for the late Queen’s Platinum Jubilee but were prohibited from featuring in any public royal activities such as Trooping the Colour from which they were absent. Us Weekly reports that after the Queen’s passing last month, the Sussexes returned again for her funeral, and at that time, they were also given cold shoulders.
The estranged royal couple was slighted at numerous points during the funeral. They were “uninvited” from events and reportedly forced to sit behind the rest of the family.
