Royal Family News: One Time Prince William Made Kate Middleton Cry
British royal family news reveals that the royal family typically gathers together at Sandringham for Christmas eve and then got to church the following morning. Like families around the globe there is some variation in plans but for the most part traditions are upheld. And now is right about the time families start to ask members where they will be and who they will celebrate with for the holidays.
Back in 2006 Duke and Duchess of Cambridge had a bit of drama as their plans unfolded. They were not yet married but were in a committed relationship. The plan was for William to spend Christmas with the royals at Sandringham and eventually meet up with Kate to spend the New Year holiday with her family.
Royal Family News: The Holidays Can Be Stressful
But a book by royal expert Katie Nicholl reveals that the couple had some fireworks that year that led to some major drama. The bBok titled Making of a Royal Romance was released in 2011 and in it Nicholl claims that Kate was left bereft when William cancelled their plans at the last second. His abrupt turnaround had her rethinking their relationship.
According to the Mirror UK William was to join her family but did not tell her until after Boxing Day. According to Nicholl the change up appeared like a small matter but nonetheless Kate had a, “good reason to be concerned.”
She elaborates, “William had been having second thoughts and sat down with his father and his grandmother to have a frank discussion about his future with Kate. Both advised him not to hurry into anything.” Now where have we heard that phrase before with William?
Royal Family News: The Royals Do Not Rush
A few short weeks later in 2007, Kate and William split up and sources claimed that the monarch was disappointed by the event. Shortly thereafter, Kate was photographed around town. The crafty gal was pictured carrying the book Love Is Not Enough: A Smart Woman’s Guide To Keeping (And Making) Money. Was that a simple case of light reading, or was she ending a message?
Luckily the breakup lasted no more than a few weeks as William and Kate were seen kissing at an army party in Dorset.
Later in the year Kate and her brother James were at the Concert for Diana, an event to commemorate the 10 year anniversary of her death.
Before long their relationship was confirmed to be back on, and Kate even moved into William’s Clarence House flat. On Friday nights he came home from military duties and they enjoyed happy weekends together.
