Royal Family News: Palace Braces for Impact as Episodes of Netflix’s Harry & Meghan Drop

Royal Family news reveals that Buckingham Palace is bracing for impact as the first episodes of Netflix’s six-part series, Harry & Meghan, are set to drop on Thursday. Read on and we’ll give you the low down.

Royal Family News: First Installment of Harry & Meghan Drops

Royal Family news reveals that, according to CNN, the Royal family has been dreading the release of the Sussex’s new docuseries for some time now, especially after the couple’s bombshell Oprah Winfrey interview back in 2021.

The six-part show is set to be released in two installments of three episodes. The first drop hit the small screen on Thursday at 2 AM CST (8 AM GMT) and the final drop will follow a week later on December 15.

Racism in the British Empire

AP News reports that the series relies on interviews with the Sussexes as well as their friends and experts on race and the media. The first three episodes are looking to dissect the close relationship between the tabloids and the Royal Family. They will discuss the history of racism in the British Empire and how it is still a large problem within society.

The episodes reportedly omit dissenting voices and there has yet to be a response from any of the media outlets mentioned. Buckingham Palace has also reportedly had nothing to say in response.

“In this family sometimes, you know, you’re part of the problem rather than part of the solution,” Harry says in one of the episodes, which was released Thursday. “There is a huge level of unconscious bias. The thing with unconscious bias is that it is actually no one’s fault. But once it has been pointed out, or identified within yourself, you then need to make it right.

Royal Family Love Story from a Fresh Perspective

Netflix’s website said in their own article about the show that it will “explore the span of [ Harry and Meghan’s] relationship, from the early days of the couple’s courtship to the challenges and controversies that led them to feeling forced to step back from their full-time roles in the institution.”

The series is directed by two-time Academy Award-nominated and Emmy Award-winning director Liz Garbus. She shares with Netflix what it was like to tell “a globally discussed love story from a fresh perspective.”

“I hope that when Netflix viewers press play, whatever preconceptions people have, they will be open to the discovery of what we’ve shared in this documentary series. It’s an incredible love story set against the context of huge stakes and their journey is a historical event that will be examined for a long time to come.”
