Royal Family News: Prince Andrew Under Renewed Scrutiny After Queen’s Death
Royal family news reveals that Prince Andrew’s pain at the loss of his mother, one of his only remaining allies, does not let him off the hook for his sex abuse scandal. Read on and we’ll give you more details.
Royal Family News: Prince Andrew Still on the Hook
Royal Family news reveals that the Duke of York displayed numerous military ribbons on his civilian suit as he joined the procession behind the Queen’s coffin. Jake Tapper of CNN says that the Duke of York’s obvious pain at the loss of his dear mother does not let him off the hook for his shady friendship with convicted sex trafficker Jeffrey Epstein, or his own sexual abuse scandal involving a 17-year-old girl.
And, though the prince may prefer to be seen less, his repeated public appearances are not making life any easier for him. It seems that the more the public sees him, the more they want him to pay for what he did.
Victims Still Want a Full Accounting
Spencer Kuvin, who represents nine survivors of Jeffrey Epstein’s sexual abuse, said that while those he represents may want the world to be able to mourn the death of Queen Elizabeth, they do not believe that Andrew should “be able to rehabilitate his image through this tragedy.”
Kuvin said, “The only thing that will help the healing of [Andrew’s] past conduct would be a full accounting of his past … and sitting for an interview with U.S. authorities regarding his conduct.”
According to The Guardian, Prince Andrew has been told that he may not wear his uniform for the events marking the passing of the Queen, save for the more private lying-in-state vigil for his mother.
Andrew Still Claims Innocence
As Royal watchers know, the duke, now eighth in line for the British throne, was stripped of his military titles as well as the use of his HRH title following his out-of-court settlement with his sexual assault accuser, Virginia Guiffre. Notably, the prince has maintained his innocence despite paying the large settlement, which has continued to gnaw at the back of the public’s mind.
The royal, now eighth in line to the throne, was stripped of his military patronages and use of the HRH title after he paid a financial settlement to Virginia Giuffre, who had accused him of sexual assault, a claim he denied.
US Prosecutors Still Want to Talk
As Prince Andrew followed his mum’s coffin from Buckingham Palace to Westminster Hall Wednesday, new reports related to the scandal are emerging, reports The Guardian. A book published Tuesday, written by the former US attorney who led the investigation Geoffrey Berman, claims that prosecutors were eager to talk to Andrew about his relationship with Epstein and his partner convicted sex trafficker Ghislaine Maxwell.
Maxwell, Epstein’s then-girlfriend, was recently sentenced to 20 years for her part in the sex-trafficking case. Be sure and keep up to speed on this and other stories. Return here often for more Royal Family news and updates.
