Royal Family News – Prince Andrew’s Attempts to Restore Status ‘Reflects Terribly’ on Some Royals
Prince Andrew’s attempts at reinserting himself into public life “reflects terribly” on the Royal Family according to a Royal author.
Omid Scobie, who co-wrote the Prince Harry and Meghan Markle biography, Finding Freedom, wrote a column for Yahoo! News detailing that the prince “constantly being given room” to work his way back into public life” not only makes a mockery of his so-called “retirement” but it also “reflects terribly” on members of the Royal Family trying to help him. Continue reading and we’ll fill you in on the details.
Royal Family News – Charles and William Prevent Andrew’s Garder Day Appearance
Scobie’s article came as Andrew planned to appear in his public capacity at the annual Garter Day ceremony at Windsor Castle. His endeavor was reportedly foiled by Prince Charles and Prince William.
According to Newsweek, a source close to the Duke of York previously informed the outlet that the prince was “still planning to attend Garter Day once he recovered from his bout with COVID which prevented him from attending Queen Elizabeth II’s Platinum Jubilee celebrations earlier this month.
Despite this desire, the prince was not seen publicly at the Garter Day event. A source close to Andrew said the decision was a “personal” one made by the prince himself. However, a Buckingham Palace spokesperson contradicted the claim, saying that it was a “family decision” to keep him from the event.
Royal Family News – Prince’s Unfavourability Still Over 80%
Since settling with his sexual assault accuser Virginia Guiffre, earlier this year, public opinion of the duke has been overwhelmingly negative. A recent poll that asked respondents if Andrew “can or cannot return to public life” resulted in 83 percent answering that he “definitely cannot” make a return.
The prince didn’t fare much better on YouGov’s favorability tracker with just 6 percent of respondents viewing the prince in a positive light, while 88 percent responded negatively. According to Scobie, though, the duke’s settlement with his accuser has left more questions than answers and that continues to weaken Prince Andrew’s chances and making a return.
Royal Family News – Andrew’s Scandal Still Fresh in Public’s Mind
“Andrew’s choice to avoid trial and answer serious questions thanks to loans from the Queen and Prince Charles is very much fresh in the minds of the public,” wrote Scobie
“As is his continued lack of accountability for questionable friendships with a billionaire pedophile and monstrous sex trafficker. Or his many money-related scandals.” Be sure and keep up to date on all Royal Family News and return here often for more news and updates.
