Royal Family News: Prince Harry And Meghan Rejects Apology Over ‘Game Of Thrones’ Jab
To publicly profess hating someone else, not just profess hatred, but to also wish the person was shamed in an inhumane form is too bad a thought from a human to another human. Be it man or woman, no one deserves such treatment.
Jeremy Clarkson a columnist for “U.K’s The Sun” has never hidden his dislike for the Duchess of Sussex but this time, he went overboard with the things he said he wished would be done to her.
Royal Family News — Jeremy Clarkson Proclaims His Hatred For Meghan Markle
In a column published on Friday, Dec. 16, Clarkson boldly declared his hatred for Meghan Markle and made sure the world understood the level of hatred he has for her. One would think that it was just a regular hate speech and that it would end there.
Nope. Sorry to burst your bubbles guys, it didn’t end there. Clarkson went on to say that he wished Meghan would be paraded naked in the streets of Britain and have people haul objects at her while the word “shame” is been screamed at her.
“Meghan, however, is a different story. I hate her. Not like I hate Nicola Sturgeon or Rose West. I hate her on a cellular level. At night, I can’t sleep as I lie there, grinding my teeth and dreaming of the day when they parade her naked through the streets of every city in Britain while the crowds chant ‘Shame on you!’ and throw bits of excrement at her.”
Now, I know that we writers have a way with words but no, no, no. This isn’t the case here. There’s no figure of speech whatsoever ever, no pun, no nothing. These words are as black and white as it is.
Talk about thinking of such inhumane treatment to a fellow human. A woman at such. Anyways, the world didn’t take it lightly from Clarkson. Oh no. He can’t have made a comment like that and expect to sit comfy in his bedroom, with a cup of coffee while enjoying the season’s weather.
No sooner was the word out did people come at Clarkson. The backlash was so much it was extended to the publication outlet.
Royal Family News — Apology Declined
In case you have no idea where Clarkson got this idea from, it was from HBO’s “Game of Thrones” film. In season 5, Queen Cersei Lannister (played by Lena Headey) was punished in that order.
Cersei was paraded naked through King’s Landing while a hostile crowd threw mud at her as Septa Unella (played by Hannah Waddingham) rang a bell repeatedly, shouting “shame!” to bring attention to Cersei.
Because of the heat from the column, The Sun took the piece out of their website and delivered some sort of apology.
The apology statement reads: “‘Columnists’ opinions are their own, but as a publisher, we realize that with free expression comes responsibility. We at The Sun regret the publication of this article and we are sincerely sorry.”
Like that would solve everything and make it all disappear. Well, a rep for the Duke and Duchess of Sussex rejected the apology because the person wronged which is Meghan wasn’t contacted directly.
“The fact that The Sun has not contacted the Duchess of Sussex to apologize shows their intent. This is nothing more than a PR stunt,” said the rep.
“While the public absolutely deserves the publication’s remorse for its dangerous comments, we would not be in this situation if The Sun did not continue to profit from and exploit hatred, violence and misogyny. A genuine apology would mean a change in its coverage and ethical standards for all. Unfortunately, we’re not holding our breath.”
To make matters worse, the architect of this whole thing Clarkson never apologized for his comments. All he tweeted was that he had no idea his write-up would be that hurtful.
“Oh dear. I’ve rather put my foot in it. In a column I wrote about Meghan, I made a clumsy reference to a scene in Game of Thrones and this has gone down badly with a great many people. I’m horrified to have caused so much hurt and I shall be more careful in future.”
