Royal Family News: Prince Harry Launches New Lawsuit
Royal Family news reveals that Prince Harry has filed yet another lawsuit against the UK government, just when commentators have claimed that tensions among Royal Family members are easing. Read on and we’ll tell you about it.
Royal Family News: Lawsuit to Focus on 2022 RAVEC Decision
Royal Family news reveals that Prince Harry is already immersed in one lawsuit that began in 2020, against the British Home Office over its decision to remove police protection from him, Meghan Markle, and their children Archie and Lilibet Mountbatten-Windsor.
Now the Duke of Sussex has filed a second lawsuit against the same Home Office and tagged on a second defendant, the Metropolitan Police, according to Newsweek. The new lawsuit will reportedly focus on a January 2022 decision, by the Royalty and VIP Executive Committee (RAVEC), which stipulated that individuals should not be allowed to pay for police protection privately.
Tension Between Sussexes and Queen’s Private Secretary
An official from the Judicial Office told the Mirror that the case is still in the early stages and that ” no hearings have been listed yet and no decisions have been made.” An expert told Newsweek that, should the prince win, the case could potentially pave the way for a wider crop of rich and famous folks to file similar security-related claims against the British government.
The revelation of these new proceedings – which emerged on Meghan Markle’s birthday – reportedly runs the risk of raising tensions between the Sussexes and the Royal Family. According to Daily Mail, the current claims being laid out in the lawsuit indicate that the Queen’s Private Secretary, Sir Edward Young, was involved in the contended decision. Harry’s legal team said that “significant tensions” are said to have existed between Young and Harry.
Tensions Lightening, For the Moment
This comes as the official Twitter accounts of the Prince of Wales and the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge shared images of Meghan Markle visiting the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee to mark her birthday. According to Express UK, the Duchess of Sussex will likely celebrate her 41st birthday privately with her husband and their children Archie and Lilibet, at their home in California.
Despite the new court proceedings, it appears that things are still improving between the Duke and Duchess of Sussex and the rest of the Royal Family but, only time will tell. The duke and duchess have made a new life for themselves outside of the UK in Montecito in California.
Since stepping down as working royals in 2020 the couple has started a non-profit foundation and signed lucrative business deals with Spotify and Netflix, reportedly worth over $120 million. It’s more than enough to fund their lavish lifestyle free from the shadow of the monarchy. Be sure and keep up with this developing story and return here often for more Royal Family news and updates.
