Royal Family News – Prince William and Kate Middleton Hit Boston for Earthshot Prize Awards
Royal Family news reveals that Prince William and Kate Middleton are heading to Boston to show their support for discovering new ways to mitigate climate change by attending the second annual Earthshot Prize Awards in Boston. Read on and we’ll fill you in on the details.
Royal Family News: Prince William and Kate Middleton to Redirect American Press
Royal Family news reveals, according to ABC, that the Prince and Princess of Wales are making their first trip to the United States in eight years and this time it’s focused on climate change. In fact, BBC reports that they’ll be heading back to the UK with an environmental prize for their work.
The awards, launched last year by Prince William himself, will be Will’s first trip to Boston since becoming the Prince of Wales. Aside from the ceremony, Will and Kate will be front and center before the American public, who have seen a lot of Royal Family business in recent months, from the Queen’s death to bombshell memoirs and Netflix series.
Prince William Takes Environmental Role from Dad
We’ll see Prince William taking over from his father, King Charles, the environmental role. However, according to BBC, he’ll also be forging his own path and showing his own dedication to engaging the environment.
It’s said that the prince will be trying to steer US coverage of the Royal Family away from tabloid fodder towards more serious matters. In the days before the award ceremony, we expect to see the prince visit projects for the disadvantaged in Boston as well as present new green technology stratagems. According to Prince William, the planet is at a “tipping point” and the awards are geared to support new ways of mitigating damage to the environment.
We Choose to Go to The Moon – and Do Other Things
Presenters at the ceremony will include Rami Malek, Catherine O’Hara, Shailene Woodley, Clara Amfo, and Daniel Dae Kim. There will be five $453,592 prizes for novel environmental projects and the event will seek to highlight inclusion, diversity, and a global outlook.
The name for the prize, “Earthshot” is a knob to the late President John F. Kennedy’s “Moonshot” from a speech in 1962 and seeks to evoke some of the optimism from the same era.
“We choose to go to the Moon in this decade and do the other things, not because they are easy, but because they are hard, because that goal will serve to organize and measure the best of our energies and skills,” President Kennedy said in that speech.
This year’s prize will be given in partnership with Boston’s John F. Kennedy Library Foundation. Be sure and stay up to speed on this and other royally related stories. Return here often for more Royal Family news and updates
