Royal Family news reveals that Princess Anne, always busy with royal duties, carried out another engagement this week vising Microsoft UK. Read on and we’ll tell you how a stunning admission about social media she made earlier this year has resurfaced.
Royal Family News: Princess Anne Visits Microsoft Despite Aversion to Technology
Royal Family news reveals that the 72-year-old Princess Royal was in high spirits Monday as she visited the UK Microsoft with the company that shared a post focused on her visit. The visit has drawn some discussion, reports Hello! Magazine, in light of Anne’s previous comments about technology.
According to Express UK, Anne spoke to Meaghan Kall, an epidemiologist for the UK Health Security Agency, making a stunning admission. The story goes, Kall asked Princess Anne if they could “connect on Twitter.”
Princess Anne Doesn’t Use Internet
“Goodness me, no!” the princess exclaimed. “I don’t even have an email account.” We’ll stop short of assuming that Anne isn’t tech-savvy. After all, in 2020, during the COVID-19 lockdown, she helped Queen Elizabeth II, log onto a video conference.
“Can you see everybody? You should have six people on your screen,” Anne reportedly asked Her Majesty to which she is heard saying, “Yes, well, I can see four anyway. Princess Royal then joked, “Ok fair enough. Actually, you don’t need me. You know what I look like!”
“With online technology, being in touch is one thing, but it’s not quite the same, the ability to meet people, that’s what makes the difference,” Anne said, adding a nod to social media, saying, “I mean, I know what Twitter is, but I wouldn’t go anywhere near it if you paid me frankly. But that’s a slightly different issue.
Princess Anne – Delighted to Avoid Technology
Princess Anne stands out when compared to other royals in that she has chosen not to have dedicated social media. In lieu of that, the official Royal Family social media accounts keep royal fans up to speed on what Anne is doing.
Meaghan Kall said that Princess Royal is “delighted to avoid digital technology.” Kall is among several people who were recognized for their work, over the last two years, in the fight against coronavirus.
The WISE Covid Unsung Heroes Awards took place on February 22 and saw such special guests as Chief Scientific Officer Professor Dame Sue Hill and Chief Scientific Adviser to the Government Sir Patrick Vallance.
Kall, named in 2021 by the journal Nature as among the top 10 people helping to shape science that year, was among the finalists for not only her work as an epidemiologist but for using social media to share reliable information regarding COVID-19.
