Royal Family News: Peter Phillips was Raised to Know Work
The Royal Family news reveals that according to Tatler, the eldest son of Princess Anne and her ex-husband Captain Mark Phillips turns 45 today. And, while many royals seem not to mind flirting with the public, (for example Phillips’ brother-in-law Mike Tindall who features on the reality TV series “I’m a Celebrity,”)
Peter, the older brother of Zara Tindall, seems to prefer to avoid the spotlight. He does, however, join the Royal Family for some events such as the Royal Ascot. According to Hello!, unlike other royals, Peter Phillips does have any royal designations. His parents elected to reject the title at his birth.
Peter once described the title situation once in an ITV documentary “Anne: The Princess Royal at 70” saying, “We were always brought up on the understanding that we were gonna have to work. We were gonna have to go out and earn, earn our living. Regardless of the fact of who our grandmother or who our mother was.”
College and Career
Peter graduated from the University of Exeter with a degree in sport science but would go on to work for Jaguar as a corporate hospitality manager and then to Williams Racing Team as a sponsorship accounts manager.
He reportedly moved on from there in 2005 taking a job at the Royal Bank in Scotland and then moving, in 2012, to SEL UK as managing director where he remains to this day. Phillips began dating Canadian management consultant Autumn Kelly in 2003.
By July 28, 2007, the couple was engaged. They were married the following year at a service held at St George’s Chapel in Windsor Castle on May 17, 2008. They had two daughters together Savannah, in 2011, and Isla in 2012. Their daughters are reportedly 18th and 19th, respectively, in the line of succession to the throne. Unfortunately, Peter and Autumn split in 2019 finalizing their divorce by February 2020.
“Whilst this is a sad day for Peter and Autumn, they continue to put the wellbeing and upbringing of their wonderful daughters Savannah and Isla first and foremost,” the estranged couple said in a statement when the divorce was finalized. “Both Peter and Autumn are pleased to have resolved matters amicably with the children firmly at the forefront of those thoughts and decisions.”
Phillips began dating Lindsay Wallace, the daughter of an oil tycoon, sometime in 2021 with the couple appearing together at the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee in February of this year, sitting behind Princess Anne and then-Prince Charles at the pageant.
