The Duchess of Cornwall to Edit Country Life Magazine Ahead of 75th Birthday
Camilla, the Duchess of Cornwall, was recently mentioned amongst those receiving honors from the Queen. It is said that the Monarch wants to give her one of the highest honors she could bestow as a thank you for her diligent and faithful service to the Monarchy and to her country.
In July, the royal will celebrate her 75th birthday, and she’s doing so by working with one of the biggest and instantly recognizable brands in the U.K.
Camilla to Celebrate Her Love of Dogs and Horses by Guest Editing a National Magazine
Camilla will be going down the road already taken by her husband Prince Charles and will be guest-editing an issue of Country Life Magazine.
As a way to celebrate her 75th birthday this July, the Duchess will curate that month’s issue.
Per a press release by the English magazine, the publication “will reflect The Duchess’s love of horses and dogs—she has two rescue Jack Russell terriers, Bluebell and Beth, and is patron of Battersea Cats and Dogs’ Home. The Duchess will reveal her champions of the countryside, her most cherished view and favourite recipe.”
They added, “The edition will also focus on the work of The Duchess as patron of over 90 charities, from Barnardo’s to The Royal School of Needlework and The Royal Society of Literature.”
Speaking about the upcoming project, a royal source is of the mind that Camilla would also focus on more controversial issues, particularly those faced by women.
During a chat with The Telegraph, the source said: “She loves the country life, but it won’t be just horses and dogs and lovely countryside.
“There is that slightly confronting side of the difficult issues the countryside faces. She wants to have a bit more about the challenges facing people, particularly for women.”
Camilla to Receive Help from Her Son, Tom Parker Bowles, a Long-standing Contributor to Country Life Magazine
Fortunately, Camilla will be receiving support from her son Tom Parker Bowles, who has contributed to the Magazine for years now, in addition to being a food writer and critic.
“As a columnist for Country Life, I’m delighted my mother will be guest-editing a special issue. But rather hoping she won’t try to muck about with my copy,” he jokingly said following the announcement.
This will make Camilla the third royal to guest edit an issue of Country Life. Prince Charles has already taken on the role twice: the first time to commemorate his 65th birthday in 2013 and again for his 70th birthday in 2018. His sister Princess Anne also took on the role in 2020 when she turned 70.
