The Duchess of York Speaks Out About Prince Andrew's Battle With King Charles Over Royal Residence

According to friends of Prince Andrew, the Duke is looking forward to fighting his brother over his 80-year lease on the 30-room Royal Lodge. However, his wife recently warned us not to trust everything we read on the internet. So uh, the King Charles and Prince Andrew drama isn’t as dramatic as sources and media outlets would have us believe?

Sarah Ferguson: “Don’t Always Believe What You Read”

Sarah, the Duchess of York, has a weird living situation with her ex-husband Prince Andrew. And by weird living situation, we mean she still totally lives with him at his mansion Royal Lodge even though they’ve been divorced for over two decades. Talk about friendly exes.

So it’s not a wonder that in her latest interview, she was asked to comment on the news that Andrew is being told to vacate the grand mansion for the more modest Frogmore Cottage. However, all she had to tell us was not to believe everything we read. When pushed for further comments, she said, “I don’t know. I take every day as it comes.”

Amidst this drama, the pair will soon be welcoming their third grandchild, as their daughter Princess Eugenie is expecting her second child with husband Jack Brooksbank.

Following reports that Charles asked Andrew to vacate from Royal Lodge, friends and sources close to the Duke revealed that he’s not looking forward to leaving, even though it is said that he can no longer afford the maintenance costs of the mansion.

An insider speaking to The Times insisted that King Charles had no grounds to ask Andrew to vacate his home, since the lease was in his name and should last for another 80 years. The source said: “The lease is in the duke’s name so no one can take that away from him. It has never been suggested that it could be taken away from him. It’s a long lease with 80 to 90 years left on it.”

Others suggest that King Charles and Prince William, who will allegedly be moving in with his family after Andrew moves out, should hold a summit with Andrew and resolve the issue amicably.
