The Queen Has a New Guilty Pleasure Following Dry Gin Ban
Sometimes, it feels so hard to remember that the Queen is a 95-year-old. I mean, I’ve been hearing about the Queen all my life, and so have my mom and her mother before her, so much so that it begins to feel as if she’s immortal — and in some ways she is. Unfortunately, age catches on with all of us, even the “immortal” ones. Following the Queen’s recent health scares, her medical team finally persuaded her to give up her favorite daily dry gin for tomato juice and sparkling water. The Queen, being wise, readily accepted to put her health first (I wish I was as smart as her, then I’ll eat my veggies and give my mom a reason to be proud of me).
Her Majesty is Yet to Entirely Turn Her Back on Alcohol
Last month, it was reported that the Monarch was advised to cut back on drinking alcohol for health reasons. While it looks like she’s entirely quit her daily dry gin, she hasn’t really gone cold turkey on the booze.
In an interview with Daily Mail, royal sommelier Demetri Walters revealed exactly how alcohol was affecting her health.
Speaking to the outlet, he said: “It’s bad for her joints, and she can’t drink too much when she’s doing all these royal engagements — it’s not a job you can drink in.”
The wine professional revealed that the Queen hasn’t given up alcohol completely at the moment, as she still enjoys a glass of wine with her meal.
“I choose for the Queen, but she’s quite exacting, as she doesn’t drink much wine at the moment.”
The Queen’s Holiday Plans
Despite her recent health challenges, the Queen is still pushing on with her plans to have a big and grand family Christmas at Sandringham Castle. She’s also said to be determined to attend Christmas day service. Let’s hope her royal back behaves this time round.
The royal members who are set to get an invitation are Prince William, Kate Middleton and their three children, and Prince Charles and Camilla.
Other royal members among the invitees for the grand Christmas affair are Prince Edward, Princess Anne, Princess Beatrice and Princess Eugenie, along with their respective partners and children.
The family get-together will give Her Majesty more time to cuddle the newest additions in the family: August Philip Brooksbank and Lucas Philip Tindall, both of whom will be celebrating their first ever Christmas.

My very best wishes that HM has a very healthy and happy Holiday and the same goes of all of us. Booze is just not good period, it destroys the lives of many precious loved ones…..so tomato juice and sparking water sounds just fine. HM is a very wise woman and knows what is best for her health and listens to her docs as I do.
