The Queen’s Platinum Jubilee Cake is a Once-In-A-Lifetime Kind of Cake
For the Queen’s upcoming celebrations, Claire Ptak designed an incredible Violet and Blackcurrant Gateau that is exactly 1 meter tall.
Known for designing the Duke and Duchess of Sussex’s iconic “non-traditional” elderflower and lemon cake, the royal baker is turning her attention to the elderly monarch’s grand Platinum Jubilee, and she’s got a cake to match.
Royal Baker Claire Ptak Makes an “Exclusive” Cake for the Queen’s Jubilee Celebrations
Ahhhh!!! The Queen’s Platinum Jubilee weekend is almost upon us. To celebrate, The Stanford Hotel hired royal baker Claire Ptak of Violet Cakes London to bake an exclusive Jubilee cake for their guests.
Ptak is more commonly known for creating Prince Harry and Meghan’s unique wedding cake. The stunning bake was made from two hundred Amalfi lemons and ten bottles of Sandringham Elderflower Cordial, before being decorated with freshly picked peonies.
For the milestone Jubilee, the American baker went the extra mile by creating the one-meter tall “Violet Blackcurrant Gateau”. The epic cake is made specially for the event and will be exclusively available to hotel guests at The Standard from the 2nd of June to 7th.
The dark chocolate cake is spiked with blackcurrant-violet liquor, with a mixture of English blackcurrants and a violet buttercream, all flavours said to be the favorites of the Queen.
Along with all these remarkable flavours, a secret ingredient helped to give the Jubilee cake a floral note. You can also taste 30g of crushed Parma Violet sweets mixed with mascarpone and double cream.
The monarch, who, according to a former royal chef, loves chocolates, is the major inspiration behind the chocolate cake creation. “Anything we put on the menu that had chocolate on, she would pick off the menu,” former royal chef Darren McGrady shared.
How to Get The Standard’s Stunning Jubilee Cake
As I’ve already pointed out, the epic cake is sadly only available to guests at The Standard for a limited time. You can enjoy a slice of the exclusive chocolate cake when booking the Slice Of Royalty room package at The Standard. Wash it down with a bottle of Champagne and just sit back and enjoy the four-day celebrations.
From June 7, The Standard, London’s exclusive Jubilee Cake will be also available for a limited time in Violet Cakes Bakery.
