The Sussexes Plan to Dump Their Montecito Mansion, They Could Move Back to the UKMeghan Markle and Prince Harry are reportedly planning to sell their Montecito mansion, where they currently live with Archie and Lilibet.

The couple have called the sprawling property home for around 18 months now, but they’re currently showing interest in other houses around the neighborhood.

Meghan and Harry Are Not “Over the Moon” for Their Californian Home

In early 2020, Meghan and Harry announced their desire to step down as working members of the royal family in order to relocate to America and have financial independence.

After a brief stay in Canada, and then at a friend’s house in the States, the couple purchased the £11 million mansion located in the elite Montecito neighborhood. The luxury home is located in a secluded area of Santa Barbara County and is known for being a hotspot for Hollywood A-listers. Just saying, Adele and Oprah Winfrey live there – that already makes the neighborhood a fine place, irrespective of its other wonderful qualities.

Even though the house has nine bedrooms, a lavish home gym, sixteen bathrooms and a playground, it still quite didn’t hit the spot for the Sussexes.

However, the neighborhood is not the issue, and a source revealed that the parents of two are considering buying another property in the area. They’re also said to be making enquiries into other houses and are open to private offers, should the right one turn up.

The insider claimed: “They are thinking of selling their house there. However, it won’t be on the market because of who they are. It’s only being shown to people who are confirmed with funds and are serious buyers.”

The source added: “They want to stay in the neighbourhood or nearby but they aren’t over the moon about the house and the location.”

Harry, 37, and Meghan, 40, gave up their U.K. Frogmore Cottage residence, located in the Windsor royal estate, for Hollywood attractions in March 2020.

Frogmore is now being used by Harry’s cousin Princess Eugenie, 31, and her husband Jack Brooksbank, 35, who welcomed their first child, son August, last February.

Sergey Grishin sold the property to the Sussexes in June 2020 for £11 million. He originally purchased the house in 2009 for nearly £19 million.

The perks of the house are nine bedrooms, 16 bathrooms, a tea house, a private playground, and 7.5 acres of land surrounded by pine and cypress trees. There is also a library, an office, a spa with a dry and wet sauna, a cinema room, an arcade and games room, a wine cellar and a five-car garage.

The posh house also has rose gardens and a separate guest house with two bedrooms and two bathrooms.

Commentator Opines Harry and Meghan Could Visit U.K. Together This Year

Prince Harry is the only one who has returned to the U.K. since their controversial exit from royal life, and neither Meghan nor the kids have had the chance to visit the island nation since.

During a Pod Save the Queen episode, regular feature and Daily Mail royal editor Russell Meyer pointed out that Harry will be traveling back to the U.K. for his beloved Invictus Games this year. They are scheduled to take place between May 29 and June 5.

Meyer also noted that Harry, Meghan and the kids are likely to “come back and see his family”.
