Watch Out Sussex Fans, The Tig Might be Coming Back
Meghan Markle could possibly be looking forward to getting back into her blog. If it’s anything like The Tig we used to know, then get ready to go on adventures, discover issues that matter to women and learn ways to improve your lifestyle.
It’s been five years since the 40-year-old shut The Tig down, and after a controversial few years and two beautiful children later, she’s decided to trademark her lifestyle blog. Eyes wide open for the first blog post.
Meghan Markle Trademarks Lifestyle Blog and is Reportedly Planning to Relaunch
The Duchess of Sussex shut The Tig, which is named after her favorite wine Tignanello, in April 2017 – before announcing her engagement to Prince Harry that same year.
She also shut down her personal Instagram page ahead of the engagement announcement and decided to give up her acting career as well. Her move to reactivate the blog is sure to leave fans excited.
She previously described blogging on The Tig as a “passion project” which “evolved into an amazing community of inspiration, support, fun and frivolity”.
The Mail revealed that public records show that LA lawyer Majorie filed a new application to trademark the name in July last year.
The trademark application was filed under a Delaware-based holding company called Frim Fram Inc, which, according to The Mail, is linked to Meghan’s long-time business manager Andrew Meyer.
At the time, her representative said: “The lasting trademark is to prevent false branding, to avoid others purporting to be the Duchess or affiliated with her.”
What Meghan’s “The Tig” was All About
The former “Suits” actress launched The Tig in 2014, when she was already acting in the paralegal drama series set in Canada.
Explaining the inspiration behind the blog’s name, she previously gushed about her first sip of Tignanello wine: “It was an ah-ha moment at its finest. For me it became a ‘Tig’ moment – a moment of getting it.”
She shut down the blog, amongst her other ventures, when she was getting ready to join the royal family.
But since stepping down as senior members of the Royal Family, she and Harry have tried their hands at various ventures, including publishing a children’s book, landing a lucrative deal with both Netflix and Spotify, going on high-profile interviews, which means that relaunching her lifestyle blog might be the next way to go.
The now mother of two used The Tig to share her insights on everything from feminism to philanthropy. Some of the archived pages can still be found online.
Alongside these topics, she’s also shared body confidence posts like the “birthday suit” where she appeared to pose nude.
The blog included praises about her mother Doria Ragland and now-estranged father Thomas Markle.
The blog also featured recipes, travel pieces, beauty product reviews and interviews with high-profile celebrity friends including Serena Williams and actress Priyanka Chopra.
If Meghan did relaunch the blog, the move could earn her a fortune through paid partnerships with fashion, food and beauty brands, per the study published by a marketing expert.
