Will Prince William’s Or Prince Harry’s Daughter Get Coveted Princess Diana Heirloom?
Royal family rumors have swirled for months over a feud between brothers Prince William and Prince Harry. And that alleged war has even extended to their wives, Kate Middleton and Meghan Markle. But now the younger family members may feel the fall-out from that feud as well.
A coveted royal family heirloom linked to Harry’s and William’s late mother, Princess Diana, lies at the center of the latest round of rumors. And rather than go to either Kate or Meghan, one of their daughters reportedly will inherit the heirloom. Will Princess Diana’s cherished antique go to Kate and William’s daughter Princess Charlotte? Or will Meghan and Harry’s daughter Lilibet Diana inherit the heirloom? Find out below!
What To Know About Princess Diana’s Cherished Heirloom
Known as the Spencer Tiara, the heirloom in question belongs to Princess Diana’s family. Diana choose the tiara as one of her jewels for her 1981 wedding to Prince Charles. In addition, Princess Diana opted to dazzle with the tiara for various special occasions, such as a state dinner in Brisbane, Australia, in 1983.
But since Diana’s horrifying 1997 death in a car crash, the ultimate ownership of the tiara has remained in question. Now, however, royal family rumors indicate that one of the royal children will receive it, per Good To Know. And two children in particular stand first in line to receive Princess Diana’s heirloom.
Both Harry’s daughter Lilibet Diana and William’s child Princess Charlotte might seem to deserve this cherished tiara. But only one such heirloom exists.
Who Will Receive The Spencer Tiara Worn By Princess Diana?
As a result of royal succession guidelines, Princess Charlotte reportedly ranks first in line to receive the Spencer Tiara. Prince William, not Prince Harry, stands second line to the throne based on royal succession. And given that Charlotte currently is the future King Of England’s only daughter, the little princess can look forward to someday wearing that coveted tiara.
Royal family insiders revealed that Princess Charlotte, now 6, probably will have to wait until she is adult and Prince William has become king. At that point, the grown-up Charlotte can choose from “the pick of the palace jewels,” say the sources.
As for its current location, Princess Diana’s younger brother Charles possesses it. But an insider revealed that William has “asked if his mother’s namesake tiara can be given to Charlotte someday.” Although Charles does have daughters, he and William reportedly “agreed that Diana’s iconic piece belongs to her first granddaughter.”
As for whether Prince Harry might protest? Royal family insiders say that although Harry and Meghan do have a little girl, she’s not likely to receive the tiara because she doesn’t rank as the firstborn daughter of a future king.
